Her appreciation for pure, honest ingredients started long before chocolate. Growing up on a farm in Los Angeles, California, Susy was shaped by parents who cooked every meal from scratch — seasonal garden harvests, fresh eggs, raw honey, and milk from their own pasture-raised cow. That upbringing instilled a deep respect for knowing where food comes from, and it guides every sourcing decision she makes today. She takes great pride in seeking out small farms and trusted suppliers who share her commitment to organic and ethical sourcing.

Before chocolate, Susy spent years as a nurse, where caring deeply for others was always at the heart of her work. When she stepped away from nursing to raise her firstborn daughter, a new kind of joy found her. On quiet walks through downtown Bellevue, Washington, strolling her baby daughter, she would visit a beautiful chocolate shop where time simply stopped — and savor one or two truffles together — simple, unhurried, and pure. After moving to California, she found herself ordering those same chocolates to enjoy and gift, until it occurred to her to make them herself. She sought out training from world-renowned chocolatiers and refined her craft working hands-on at a beloved chocolate shop in Napa Valley — a place she first fell in love with after discovering their jewel-like bonbons displayed in a beautiful store window.
